5 Quick And Easy Steps To Build Your Confidence

1)    EXERCISE

I love to exercise! Exercising has so many benefits, not only does it have so many health benefits, it’s great for weight loss and it’s so good for our mental health and Well-being.

It doesn’t have to be hours on end in the gym, it can be anything from walking and getting those 10,000 steps in daily to weight lifting. I like to switch my exercise routines up to keep me motivated and focus on building both my mind and body strength. It’s important to find exercise which you enjoy doing, so try lots of different things until you find what you love and get going, don’t wait for the “perfect time” to start as it will never come. The best way to stick to exercise is to plan it in your diary. Exercise works hand in hand with eating healthy, you need a good balance of both to support lifting your mood and energy levels.

TIP - Plan ahead! Plan your exercise days in your diary just like you would a meeting and stick to it, it will help relieve that stress, boost your energy and also help you sleep better.

2)    SET YOURSELF GOALS AND FOLLOW THROUGH

I practice what I preach! I’m a firm believer that setting yourself goals, whether they’re short term or long term helps you focus on what’s important to you. By setting yourself those important goals it helps you stay on track and ensuring you follow through on them gives you the satisfaction you need to help build your confidence. Progress is a journey and big changes don’t happen overnight, every step you take is one step closer to achieving your goal, so don’t give up even if you’re having a bad day, just remind yourself why you’re doing this and how great you will feel when you have made that change in your life.

Remember * The more you achieve the more your confidence will grow and the best way to stay on track, is to monitor your progress.

3)    FOCUS ON THE “POSITIVES”, NOT THE “NEGATIVES”

We sometimes spend far too long focusing on what didn’t happen “The negatives”! instead try to focus on what you did achieve “The positives”, what’s gone well for you today or this week? What have you learnt? What have you accomplished? It doesn’t always have to be the big successes we celebrate, it could be achieving a daily task or a goal, it all counts!

TIP – Why not make a journal or a task list and write it all down. so if You're struggling to think about what you have achieved recently, you can look back at it and remember how far you have come.

4)    PUSH THE BOUNDARIES AND DON’T LIVE IN YOUR COMFORT ZONE

We can all probably admit that at some point in our lives we have lived in our comfort zones for way to long, I sure have! But its time to get out.

If you stay within your comfort zone, how do you really know if you can ever achieve your true potential? You don’t. You’ve probably already decided in your mind you won’t achieve it so why try! Right? But what if you did push yourself to go for that dream job or start that course and what if you did achieve it, how amazing would you feel? But if you don’t push yourself how will you ever know how it feels to win? The good news is you have the power to change that. you can set yourselves goals, big or small, and if you don’t succeed first time just keep trying and think about what you can learn about yourself along the way.

I love to face my challenges head on, I might fall flat on my face at times but that’s an opportunity for me to learn, Improve and grow.

TIP – Don’t focus on failing. If you don’t succeed the first time round, don’t give up, use it as an opportunity to improve.

5)    SELF CARE

We spend so much of our time being busy! whether we are looking after others or busy at work, we tend to forget to look after ourselves too. Your self-care is just as important as anyone else’s. Surround yourself with positive people, people who inspire you and you can learn from. We all know what it feels like to be around negative people and how they can make you feel so it’s time to distance yourself from those people as they will open dampen your self-esteem. Take pride in your values, treat people with respect and be kind. You deserve to be happy.

TIP – Aim to take 15 minutes out of your day to focus on yourself, no smartphones or computers. Why not grab a magazine and a coffee instead, go old school!

Sometimes taking a few simple steps can start to make a huge difference to your life and your mood. You have the power to make that change, So why wait? Every day counts, make today worth it.
